Got a set of longbeach alloys from off my mk3.I understand these arnt the most loved set of rims.Ive put them up for sale but so far have no takers,so thinking of taking them to the scrappy.Anyone got an idea how much£ scrap value id get for a set of alloys? Is it worth it?I have no room to store these.
-
10-20 I'd imagine.
-
Thats the kind of figure i had in my head too.Would be a shame to scrap them tho.Im sure someone could use them.
-
You could give them a new lease of life by respraying them yourself?

Got some kurbing tho and not sure if i could do a very good job of repairing that.In fact i dont now how. Some is pretty deep.
-
kurbing is easy to remove mate. get a drill and a flap bad of sand paper. and go over the kurbed area in long strokes past the actual damage so the metal you are taking off blends into the rest of the wheel. then go over the wheels with some 80 grit sand paper to give them a good key and get rid of any corosion then give them a good coat of high build primer. smooth off with some 2000 grit and paint with a colour of your choice then clear.

Is it really putting loads of effort and spending money on materials into refurbishing a set of wheels that a) he doesnt want and b) wont fetch any real money.
I only just scraped together £35 for a set of very good condition Longbeaches and 4 useable tyres a few months ago.

Precisely.

Are they 15" you'll get more in scrap than 20" I scrapped a set of 16" recently and got 63£..... Make sure you remove the valves and weights else they pay "dirty metal" price which is less than "lean metal" price
