Title: Wing mirrors whistling
Post by: ScottA on 10 August 2012, 08:58
Anyone elses wing mirrors whistle at speeds around or in excess of 60mph, progressively getting worse as you go faster?

Mine do and always have. I mentioned it to my dealer once and they said they couldn't find anything wrong and would have to strip it all down (to probably not find anything anyway ) so I told them to leave it. My passenger side one is noticeably worse, the drivers side is comparatively quiet but it still does it. A few days ago I noticed loads of black sealant on the passenger mirror. It looks like the dealers tried to fill the gaps but when it's got hot it's actually melted a bit and ran down. I got rid of most of it pretty easy with IPA. I did call them to have a moan but couldn't get through to anyone in service, they returned my call a few days later but I just ignored it, at least they tried I guess (but failed miserably).

So has anyone else got this? Most annoying thing in the world when driving with the windows open. Can't hear it when they're shut.

Cheers,
Scott

No problem with mine, you really have been very unlucky with your car.

+1 sounds like the trade in is getting closer or probably not as you've just got yourself a new house

Had a 3.25i convertible and had loads of problem. after washing water would drip through the seals, constant electronic problems. e.g hit a bad pot hole service light came on (orange) hit another bad pothole service light changed colour (red) then the light disappeared over time until u hit a pothole again! plus other little problems. Oh brakes failed as well once (fun yet scary).

Cut long story short got rid of it!
