Title: Mk iv Anniversary Golf 1.8t Alternator light
Post by: AnniversaryWul on 08 August 2012, 17:49
cant really browse and search due to being on my mobile phone, but my alternator light has came on today and wont go off, have tested the battery with a multimeter twice showing readings of 12.7v when engine is off and 14v - 14.3v when the engine is running which i believe to be normal readings? Any ideas of anything else that could be causing this, as it looks as if the alternator is charging properly

Thanks for any help

also starts first time every time, battery is only 3 years old. no symptoms of any problems whatsoever with the car. pretty clueless to what it could be, dont get the alternator workshop warning that some people get, just the small orange symbol on the dials

Check the plug on the alt and the 2 wires that go to it, also check earths etc, coz if its still charging the battery then it must be ok still, prob just a bad earth somewhere or something loose.
