ok so ive removed my engine for upgrades and it will end up in my mk2, ive got the big vr out the front and have it still hanging on the crane,
i wasnt sure if i'm able to place my engine on the sump pan or not as i need to re-use the crane for my 16v.
so question is how to place it down without damage :undecided:
I've tried to support it on blocks with the engine mount brackets but it was very wobbly
and bobed my pants when i though it was going to fall off so i put it back on the crane.
i need to work on it for a month or so what can i do to support it?

Placing it on wood on the sump and resting against a wall will be fine.

thanks tweed youve re-assured me, i suppose its not much for a new sump if it caves in
erm i dont have a wall to rest it against so will try blocks on the front mount me thinks,
gosh its i heavy bugger. its been sitting on the crane for a week now poor old crane,
i use to gym it alot in the past and got to bench just over 100kg <<<no way could i do it now but surly the vr6 is close to 500kg if not more<<anyone know the weight of it?

About 170kg

Use axle stands on the mounting brackets, much safer.

when my engine was shipped to me it was just strapped to a pallet sitting on the sump

cheers guys i'll give the methods a try

The sump will take the weight, i'd be more bothered about it falling over and damaging the head or ancillaries.
