Post by: stainesy on 07 August 2012, 17:28
just got what i call a result. as you all know im building this car on a budget so so i make and customise most of the stuff myself.
bloke round the corner from me who is slowly becoming a good mate of mine that is a car breaker.
just called me over as i was putting my car in my garage and said oiy mate i got something for you. tenna and its yours. then gave me this exhaust.
its off a diferant car but it is off a 2.0.

what do you think? i recon it will look pretty bloody good once i spend ages obssessing about having it perfect
im waiting for the haters aswell

Well if i had to runn it i would lose the extra pipe .

That was a thought of mine. Was thinking about cutting off the pipe at the box and welding in a plate to make it a single

Na.
If I was to fit it with both I would cut each side square up the the green part of bumper then have the poke from the black bit about 10mm so they are almost flush.
So the bottom of the tips are level with the bottom of the black plastic bit of the bumper. To loose the hanging exhaust look.

I've got huge respect for you and the way your modding your car on a budget as i'm trying to do this too mainly because i'm a tight ar*e and because i don't think my old mk3 is worth spending real folding money on but that exhaust will just look wrong, to save money and use the part i'd cut off the extension and just have it as a single exit.

Gotta agree not loving the twin exhaust but modded to a single would work.... Wheels look cool too BTW

Cheers mate.
Just measured the exhaust up for cutting and maybe fitting and realised the pipe that goes onto the box is only 40mm and mine is 50mm. Would this effect my cars running or back pressure?
It would reduce to 40mm for about 100mm where it goes into the box then the pipe coming out the box to the tip is 50mm.

I like marmite but hate this.

don't ruin your car and exhaust size will effect it when in high revs

Twin letter box - pants

Twin 2.5" outlets discrete in the lower part of the bumper i like.

Theres a mk3 round my area-ish that has this done and its not overly obvious - but you'd need the engine to back it up too

But yeah twin letter box is way over kill and the tank would get in the way anyway

What car was it originally designed to fit? surely some pleb will pay more than a tenner for it on ebay so you're onto a winner really.
