Title: Handbrake Cable - Setting the caliper up
Post by: theshrew on 07 August 2012, 08:45
Has anyone changed a handbrake cable ?

Some cars ive changed them on before are a doddle some have been a pain. Ive not even looked at it on the Golf yet tbh. Is it easy enough to do at home or a bit of a pain in the bakside ?

Do you need a special tool to adjust the caliper on these ? Some cars you have to set the piston up wind it in etc. Any ideas chaps ?

I imagine you will need a rewind tool. Have only ever done it on a Ford which I needed this tool for and apart from that it was 'relatively' straight forward. Perhaps that was because we replaced the entire calliper.  :undecided:
