I'm wanting to fit the new style drl style headlights to my 09 gti.
I've heard of the ones from eBay but can I get good quality ones anywhere online ?
I'm looking for the factory look not aftermarket
-
In a word 'No'!
I am the same as you, really want them as brings the frint of the car nag uptodate, but I have looked everywhere and while there are some OK non OEM looking ones which I am sure work fine, really are not a patch on VW's.
Just wish I had ticked that box when ordering now...

fookin i-phone typing!! apologies!!!

The ones kenny has look superb and they're aftermarket OEM style.

There's guy in Canada that sells replacements (becautoparts, his name is ED - edward@becautoparts.com), these use halogen bulbs or you can fit xenon bulbs. He used to advertise right hand drive versions as well.
Parts4euro also sell them, but do not say if they have right hand drive.
I quite like the look and am thinking of getting some later.

But they have separate dip and main beam lights with a little indicator squashed in between them, not like the OEM lights that have a Bi-xenon outer light and a big indicator where the main beam light is on the fake ones.
The other issue with having to fit an HID conversion kit in them, is that the ballasts always take a while to reach full power. I used to have a kit in my Passat, but have recently swapped them for genuine Bi-xenons. They spark up straight away. Much better.

Check out Kenny's they are not OEM but they look great and a fraction of the cost.

Kenny's DRL's (http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=213970.0)

I am pretty sure you can get r style ones from your local VW dealer......saw something on our intranet a few months back for golf and polo.
-
Not sure as to whether I am a fan or not. I think its maybe because there are far too many cars with the cheap aftermarket ones and it has sort of tarnished the actual DRL's a little bit.

Was very much a concern for me when buying mine but I have to say I am pleasantly surprised with the look. Very OEM look to them, not like a row of LEDs on a piece of cable with I assume you mean, each LEDs has its own housing same as OEM. Only thing is the LEDs are slightly bluer, but to anyone looking at them you would not know unless parked next to an OEM set. I seen it as a hassle free quick fix to the halogens at a fraction of the price.

I must admit they do look very good.

I second Kenneth's reply. I had similar ones on my '10 GiT and although the DRL's look a little blue, I now quite like them and am happy overall

About half the price if I remember correctly!!

I was £600 about a year ago IIRC. Maybe bit cheaper now that there are other options out there.
-
Did you have to fit all the washers and self levelling gubbins?

Gone down now, mine were £450 incl bulbs and delivery. Paid an additional £55 to have them fitted, but you may have to play around with the coding

Got a quote from Ultraxenon (http://www.ultraxenon.co.uk/)
who sell the gen Bi-Xenons...
Quote was £1095 + £155 fitting and coding...
