Hi guys got a 1.4 16v golf mk4 just driving home and lost power and started a missfire and pulled up the codes (16684 and 16685) which is random missfire and showing on cylinder 1. Any advise on what you would change first as it will probaly be a process of eliminatiion lol

16684/P0300/000768 - Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected

Fuel Supply faulty
Injector(s) faulty
Ignition Cable(s) and/or Spark Plug(s) faulty
Ignition Coil(s) faulty
Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Valve (N18) stuck/open

Check Misfire Recognition
Check Air Intake System
Check Fuel Supply
Check Injector(s) and Injector Sealing

This DTC indicates that one or multiple cylinders are misfiring, but the ECU fails to identify the cylinder.

This feature search for engine misfire in a specific cylinder. Most of the time the cause for a misfire is a lack of combustion in a cylinder due to absence of spark, poor fuel metering, or poor compression.

Do they have a single coil for each cylinder? If so just move the coil packs around and see if the misfire moves. If it does you know you'll need a new coil pack

im pretty sure they are not single coil for each one but will double check later :-) thanks for quick responces :-)

running on ht leads. runs fine on idle got it warm went out for a drivecand happened straight away seems to be when gets hot. ht leads first? cheers
