hey guys and girls i have a mk3 golf 1.4, recently while driving the car i could hear a clicking/popping noise while turning did abit of reasearch and figured out it was the outer cv joint that had gone so had that replaced but the noise still is there when im turning left any ideas guys ?? thank you

a cv joint would be more a banging noise tbh. are you on coilovers? it sounds like top mounts to me.
-
Yes pal I'm on coilies

Had this problem with my coilies, turned out I had overtightened the nut that holds in the strut top bearing and it began to disintegrate. The nut is only supposed to be 20nm. Its the first nut that goes on, not the one that holds the strut top to the car. Just changed them both and now its spot on. But mind you this issue would make a noise turning in both directions.

Nope only happens when turning left mate thats whats making me thing its the passenger side outer cv joint that needs replacing now make a Pi** take lol

Track rod end ??

Clicking is normally a cv joint in trouble.

As I had the outer cv joint changed that sorted ye clicking noise now it's more of a clunking noise cars going in garage Tomoz so fingers crossed nothing to expensive

Sounds like a cv joint mate that's what happened on my old mondeo changed outer cv and it wasn't greased properly at the garage took like 80 miles to screw up the new one
-
How would I know if it's greased up right ? Like I said once it had been changed the clicking noise went but now I have a clunking/knocking noise

CV joints do and can click when they are on their way out.

everytime iv had a CV joint go it was more more a clonking knocking noise! and clicking noise has always been a top mount or strut with me! just saying.

pull back the rubber boot add lots of grease and put back the rubber boot with zip ties this wont always cure it! with any kinda noise on cars it can be 101 things! best bet is to take it to a garage ask them.
