Title: MK4 Golf ABS light!
Post by: Rachie2609 on 04 August 2012, 19:02
Hi everyone, new to this forum and need some advice!
The ABS light on my 1999 mk4 1.8t golf is on. The ABS has stopped working alltogether which isn't so bad, but need the warning light off. The light came on shortly after having my car lowered, not sure whether this could be a coincidence? Have had the sensors checked and they seem to all be reading the same. What do we reckon?

I had it plugged in on two separate machines about 2 months ago, and neither would read the ecu  :undecided: so not sure what to do next?

More than likely a broken sensor wire, A lot of the time when you have your car lowered the ABS sensor wires are not secured back properly, leaving them dangling around the suspension coils, rubbing and trapping until they break. Happened to both my front sensors. If this is the case you can repair the wires but I believe they are screened wires so wrap each wire in a bit of tinfoil after repair to re-screen
