Title: Brock B2's Finally Arrived..... Watcha think?

Hi Guys

Well the B2's arrived yesterday. They are still in need of a refurb and the arches need sorting but I had to throw a couple on just to see what they looked like. I think they look pretty cool.. Any comments gladly welcome. 

Also the top of the wheel is about an inch and half away from the arch.. i am guessing this will rub on big bumps. my local guy wants £275 quid to sort this arches for me. thats just labour, gotta buy the G60 arches too. I was thinking about having a go myself... Again any advice welcome..

Excuse how dirty the car is... it was pouring with rain and the car is in desprate need of a clean!

wheels look good, but i'd say thats quite alot to get your arches rolled. where abouts do you live? i know a guy who's doing mine for around £30 an arch

Yeah there 16x9's never realised how wide they are.. the picture doesnt do them justice..   IT LOOKS ANGRY!!! :angry:

This was just a local guy. i thought it was expensive. I live in Hampshire down south..

Well...gotta fit G60 arches... Take out some of the plastic inside and roll and cut away some of the arch.. Just wondering whether to do it myself or pay someone nearly 300 quid to do it...

I hear what y sayin but rear g60 arches are only marginally wider than standard.

marginally???? 1cm? 2cm?

Cos at the moment the wheel sticks out about 2cms from the end of the back standard arch trim.

I was gonna get an angle grinder at the metal arch. Then paint this to stop it rusting. Cut the inside of the G60 arches slightly to allow for more room. Take out the plastic trims inside the arch and use some of that rubber stick on stuff to stop stones etc chipping the inside of the arch..

well the bloke who's doing mine is near gatwick so not too far away, he's a golf nut so should be able to do what you want as he's worked on loads before. let me know what you think?

Looking at those.. i recon i'll be ok.. They are gonna stick out slightly whatever happens i think.. The top of tyre sits inside the arch.. its only really the wheel rim that sticks out.

Gatwick aint far.. its just getting the car there. wonder how long he would need it for?

Knobby,

You could be in trouble here fella. THe law states that the tread of the tyre must be covered when looked down on from the top. If this is not the case then it won't pass an MOT and will more than likely get you tugged by the Boys in Blue. Looking at the pics it looks like the G60 arches should cover the tread and make you legal. But I think to get those wheels to clear inside the arches to lower it is going to be really hard work as they stick out MILES!

This picture gives you a better idea as to how much they stick out. I've been told that the rims are allowed to stick out and inch from the body work, anything more than that and you will be done for it??? From that picture i recon the G60 arches should do the trick. Watcha think?

im cutting my arches soon so ill take pics of how to do them. if u cut the rears then u need to weld them back as they have two skins

knobby how much did u pick the rims up for btw?

they look rude :cool:

if your not going lower then cut the lip,and seal it with underseal. if u want to cut more then cut half an inch up of the metal and u shud be fine and not cut any welds off.

Baby Blue..... Have you done yours??? Cos ive been told i will need to remove some of the plastic trim inside the arche, you recon i will??? Whats this underseal all about and where is it available from?

not sure about the plastic inner arch things. havnt done mine yet mate

underseal is the black stuff they use to seal the whole underside of the car and it protects it from rust etc. can buy it from chavfords and places liek that

sorry my crappy english...

Been told that the rears are double skins and have weld marks.. i dont want to have to start welding the arches so have again been told just to take enough off so not to go back as far as the weld..

So yours were cut back and then u have that little lip to rivot the plastic trims back on.. ummm... i was just gonna cut them and cover them in hammerite and then just stick the arches back on with "NO MORE NAILS! ( :grin:) ...

See a problem with this?

I would cut just before the inner arch starts then fold the remaining outer arch inside to meet the inner arch. Then seal with hammerite and underbody sealant. My G60 arches were not riveted back on but bonded back on as you suggested.

Good thinking... when i get under the arch i am sure everything will all become clear!

When u say fold? i am guess u grab hold of it with a pair of plyers or bash it with a soft mallet...

sorry for all the questions.. Just dont like doing body work!! wanna get it right.. and i aint gonna pay someone nearly £300 to do it for me..

If you look at my 1st picture you can just see faint pencil lines marked out for the cut and fold. looks like you cut just before the curve of the arch starts and fold so that you have no flat just the curve of the arch.

Yeah i see... its real faint...

Blimey quite alot has gotta come off then... so folding the arch back in when its cut... U recon hit it with a plastic mallet or bend with Plyers??

Pliers might be best cos then you can choose where you want it to bend. A mallet might just bend it anywhere it feels like. It doesent really matter if it dont look too pretty as the G60 arch will be covering it.

i would cut mine in the middle of the above pic^

i bashed my arche this morning with a rubber mallet and it rolled the fronts nicely :cool: Although not reccomended.

your better off doing a proper job on the rears. cut and weld knobby. Leave the two bottom rivet holes to secure the arch maybe. I dont trust no nails on metal :rolleyes:

OK... G60 arches have finally turned up.. removed one of the front arches. the G60 arches ive got ive had to remove 2 plastic clips on the top of the arch. i am Assuming the the G60 models have holes in the arch which these clip into. Anways... these have been removed to get the arch cloes enough to the body. still not sure how much metal arch to cut to get my wheels to fit under. as you can see from the picture below the G60 arch has a cut out to allow for wider wheels then ether side of this are rivet wholes.. I was going to cut the metal arch enough so i could keep these rivet holes and connect rivets to them.

Recon it will be enough to allow the wheel to travel???
