Title: E-Cigs
Post by: Horney on 03 August 2012, 11:12
Anyone on here using these? Just got myself a Skycig starter set on a special offer so it was cheap. Going to give it a go and see how I get on.

I got one and couldnt get on with it, but I've tried most things to give up and they dont work. I think i just dont want to give up ha

But two people I know use them and sware by it, however one of them uses it non stop!  :undecided:

So not sure how good they really are, since they never get rid of the addiction.

Not looking to stop, I like smoking, just looking at options for smoking that is less likely to result in early death.

The problem with substitutes is they are never quite as good as the real thing.
This is why i had to stop completely..

Hey Nick

I made the switch at the start of April and haven't had a regular cig since.
You'll soon discover that there is an absolute mire of info out there on the topic and all the different types of kit are mind boggling.
I started of with a kit but soon junked it in favour of component parts to tailor it to my tastes and usage.
The first thing you want to do is find an e-liquid that you like and start refilling your cartomisers when necessary. This will save you a fortune as the prices on replacement cartridges is extortionate.

I've been through many different liquids and without a doubt the best is el toro cigarillos from this guy:

http://www.houseofliquid.com/default.asp

You can get a 10ml sample bottle for about £7. I buy it in a 50ml bottle now at £20 a time but it lasts about 6weeks.
Georgio definitely deals in the best liquids on the market, only trouble is they are very moreish :/

As for kit, use this website:
http://www.vapeescape.co.uk/
Everything you could ever need and at a good price.

When at work or the pub I use a combination of this battery:

http://www.vapeescape.co.uk/innokin-510-batteries-%2Ablack-%26-white%2A~305

With these cartomisers:

http://www.vapeescape.co.uk/kanger-510-sr-cartomisers-horizontal-coil-%285%29~261

They are the best I have tried giving nice warm vapour, plenty of flavour and an absolute fog of vapour.
Each one lasts 1-2 weeks topping up the liquid at the end of each day.

When driving or at home I use the battery from this kit:

http://www.vapeescape.co.uk/the-sd-keyring-ecig~266

With one of these as the cartomiser:

http://www.vapeescape.co.uk/kanger-t2-2.4ml-tank~393

The battery will last a couple of days and a fill of liquid about 3 days.
This is an absolute pleasure to 'smoke' even if you do feel like an old man with a pipe and look like a bit of a knob!!!
You can fill a room with vapour like a warehouse party in the early 90's with this bad boy :)

Good luck with it, if you can gets to grips with it and find some kit you like it really is a good alternative.
People don't bat an eyelid down the pub now they are used to it. Infact the landlady is happy for me to stand at the bar puffing away although I still go outside with the 'real' manly smokers so as not to be a loner inside!!!

Cheers
Toby

You smoke.

The "Scientists" say you will die sooner.

Reality says you'll live as long as your body will let you.

Just smoke or don't, don't piss around with fads.

I quit for four months, then started again during the euro's when I was drinking a little too heavily, as you do!  I'll do it again before long. I've tried the gum, lozenges, champix tablets the lot. I had quit for a few months twice previously too though. I used patches those times, and they worked for me. I used the patches for a week this last time, and used the tampon looking things to aid it afterwards. I used them for about 2 months, and finished with them when the second box ran out. As said, don't give up giving up if things don't work for you. You do need will power, so if its not working out, move on to something you get on with.

Cheers for all of that Tobz, I'm a convert and I've ordered the Riva kit from Vapeescape (plus a couple of juices to try). It's been a week without a proper fag and I don't miss them other than the first one of the day.

I've been looking into these e-cigs quite a bit over the past few weeks and have a couple of friends who swear by them so before diving in and buying an expensive kit I opte to try out a single e-lite cigarette last Saturday...
Anyway, I'm on day 6 of non-smoking and I've got to admit the e-lite has tied my over on a few sketchy moments of craving during the week but I'm by no means relying on it like I thought I might so fingers crossed I can carry on at this rate and not be smoking any nicotine at all within a few weeks time.  :lipsrsealed:

That's what i was trying to say before, there is no stepping stone, it's no different to alcoholism....

Have you tried champix? it will make you not want to smoke but can make you go a bit mental at the same time  :undecided:
Title: Re: E-Cigs
Post by: Horney on 10 August 2012, 16:22
Can't afford to go mental, already on anti depressants for my anxiety so this way at leas I get my nicotine fix, still can go outside for a break and don't go mental in the office.

Nick

The doctor won't give you champix then
I'm glad i'm off it, it was very hard for a while, but all of sudden it got easy.
The best way to do it is just take one day at a time, and don't take ANY nicotine  :lipsrsealed:
Despite what some people say, smoking will either kill you or ruin your health....
I don't want to take that chance..  :lipsrsealed:

Mine's the Riva 1100 kit from Vape Escape. They do smaller kits and all sorts.

Maybe look at something like this one: http://www.vapeescape.co.uk/510-carto-kit~300

What you need, is a blunt

In all seriousness I used to work with a guy that had a top tip for quitting. He said he went to the docs, told them he tried everything, they gave him some super strength patches, and he carried on smoking, on the nurses' advice! While smoking and wearing nico patches, it made him so unbelievably sick, he just quit. Obviously a bit of willpower is required, but no-one wants to be sick like that so IMO its a cracking way of quitting.

I bought a greensmoke one (£80) and two ionizers so the bastard didn't run out of energy when I was puffing. Had previously smoked for 11 years, including other medicinal smoke like materials. Smoked the eleccy ones for six weeks and have been on the wagon for 21 months now. Can't beat em!

Everytime you have a craving, just allow yourself a second to say, 'this is just a phase, it'll only last 90 seconds or so' and before you know it, it'll have f**ked off and be a distant memory.

Good luck to you horseman.

Hey Nick

Sounds like you're also a total convert now, I do love the kanger clearomiser, the amount of vapour and taste is impressive.
Dunno if you've found a liquid that you're totally happy with yet but the el toro range from the previous links are highly recommended. You can get 10ml sample bottles of each for about £6, the is the basic tobacco (cigarillos), cigar (puros) which has a hint of hazelnut and eden which has a hint of apple.
After I bought my first sample of el toro I actually binned all the other bottles of liquid I had been trying. I now use cigarillos every day (about to order my third 50ml bottle) and I switch to eden occasionally when I fancy something different.
Give it a go, it beats all the other chemical tasting liquids hands down.

I might try that El Toro juice but to be honest I'm not missing the tobacco taste at all. I'm vaping Vanilla during the day and Coffee Caramel first thing and late at night.

I am a proper convert though, not touched a proper fag in three weeks.

Good on ya Nick.
Although as I say to everybody it's not helping me break the addiction or kick the habit but it's a step in the right direction with regards to health. I've managed 5months now and haven't been tempted by a real smoke at all, for me it's very close to a direct replacement for something I really enjoyed.

I've been vaping on and off for about a year now, I love the concept but keep getting let down by the hardware, seems as tho the quality control is terrible! I've tried plenty of different combinations and generally mix my own juice to perfect the flavour/throat hit/smoke production ratio, and my favourite system so far is the tornado tank, but still its a bit unreliable and has wicking problems which result in a horrible burnt kind of taste!

Otherwise its all good and whilst I still smoke its a lot less than I used to, which cant be a bad thing!

I've tried a few of these e-cigs now, from elites to gamuchi.... Awful things, poor vaporisers and capacity. However I now gave the Titan e-cig a go and that's awesome, actually fills your mouth, nice and heavy puffs unlike the elites etc... refillable cartridge too! However I found the flavoured e-juices are awesome and its more effective than the glade wall plug in. However I do find vanilla tastes so yummy I probably smoke more capacity than I did in real cigarettes, but its still miles cheaper just ordering e-juices in and refilling the Titan especially when you mix the nicotine % to your liking and the flavours, YUM!
