alrite all ,little problem,noticed my car wasn't very responsive so thought i would unplug the maf to see if this would improve the problem and point to the maf possibly being the culprit,butttt when i unplugged it the car will idle briefly then stall.So thought i would take it for a spin down the road and back but when i let off the throttle to go round a corner the car died ,any ideas .Did try the search but couldnt see anything ,maybe just me as have been on nights .As always all help greatly appreciated ,brett

Might be worth checking the breather hoses for splits and blockages!

cheers mate did have a look and all seemed ok as had to replace both the oil breather hoses last year and the others seemed alrite,but now and again can hear what sounds like a slight whistle possibly from throttle body

Goig to take the pipes off and check for blockages next as,tried with maf unplugged again and wouldnt even rev properly ,literally tried to rev at idle and it struggled to rev at all grrr

have you cleaned your throttle body with carb cleaner?
If not give that a shot!

also if your unpluggin your maf and the car dies out then your muff is working fine lols

ye took off and cleaned tb the other week ,and ye did think that with maf ,but remember unplugging it before ,but was still able to drive it ,had spare leads ,coil ,fuel pump and ecu relay .Just swapped the all over and will see how it goes on way to work tonight,cheers mate

My maf is knackered and i run with it disconnected just now and it runs great but does cut out at junctions sometimes. Sounds like a vacuum leak you have somewhere.

was thinking that but unsure were to start on that front lol,only thing i can think of is that when i've given it some throttle can sometimes hear like a whistle/whooosh if you know what i mean lol,wasnt sure if it could actually be the throttle body itself ?

Maybe try spraying a little bit of carb cleaner round the vac lines and throttle body with the engine running, any change in engine tone can indicate a vacuum leak.

cheers mate ,i did change all the rubber braid pipes to the throttle body etc last year as they had perished,will give the carb cleaner a try tomoz as its bloody raining now ,

Cool, mind just small sprays of carb cleaner as it highly flammable. Wouldn't want you to lose your eyebrows :grin:
