Title: 8v digi ...... not again! .........idle
Post by: ritmo on 02 August 2012, 13:35
................the car was running fast at about 1500rpm so just cleaned out the isv and all the pipes and idle screw as discribed on other posts and put it all back together now it revs at 3000rpms and drops to 1000rpm then back to 3000rpm like someone is sitting reving the car!!!!
I disconected the isv from the power and it idles fine! may be a little low at 750rpm
anyone had this before? and any ideas on how to fix as I'm not happy driving it with the isv disconnected.
Andy

Ummm...

Have you tested the microswitch on the throttle body?

Have you read RJ's thread on tuning a digi? It's in the maintenance section!

Wires to blue temp broke could try disconnecting and see if there is any difference. I had this tool me ages to find broken wire causing this.

Get some carb cleaner and spray it around all the air pipe joints. If the revs increase then theres your air leak.

To test the throttle switches (there are 2 - one at the top and one hidden)

First check if they both click. The top switch is the wide open throttle switch. The one at the bottom clicks soon as you rev it.

Engine on idle - rev the engine by hand then press the top throttle switch in. The revs should drop. if not then its a wiring or throtle switch fault. Quite common for the switch wires to break.
