Title: Ally Pedals
Post by: AcidicDavey on 01 August 2012, 21:06
Hey all,

I got hold of some Ally Pedal covers out of an Audi TT today and just wondered how and if anyone else has fitted some in a mk3?

They have rubber tabs on the back to slot through the pedals which are solid on the mk3 obviously.

So anyone fitted some before?

TT pedals aren't actually alloy, they are stainless steel.

The brake and clutch should fit straight on, but the accellerator pedal on the Mk3 is flatter than the Mk4/TT pedal, so you need to flatten the stainless part slightly.
Take the rubber bits off, place a block of wood over it, and hit the wood with a hammer to flatten it...then it should fit.

I had TT pedal covers on mine before I fitted the Mk4 Anniversary covers.

Im assuming  it was exactly the same mallet swinging action that was required for the mk4 Anni pedals to fit as well, Glen? Are they the Anni ones pictured above?

Is that a switch in front of your gearstick gaiter Glen? If so, what is it for?

I had one of those switches one of my old mk2's. I never did anything though so I ripped it out but was something to do with the alarm /immobiliser system.

well i suppose anywhich way they can wriggle out these days........ even tho it seems a little far fetched to not pay out over some pedal covers.... I wonder how much extra those asda rubber matts in my footwell will increase my premium.....   well you never know, theyre not factory items... hahaha

The covers I got hold of don't look anything like them ones.

I got a lighter and melted the rubber tabs off the back of the clutch and brake covers and positioned them on the pedals and they'd fit but the throttle cover I got in the post is too small

Here's what I got,

That's the type I had in mind. So you've got the brake and clutch covers fitted securely now then, what's the plan for the accelerator pedal as Ive definetly seen these fitted in mk3's?

The one I've got is too short, it would not fit without cutting the pedal off the correct model for it and welding it in place of the mk3 one!!

Yup...same flattening required.
Those are Mk4 Anni...TT pedals have rubber lines not dimples.
