I have broke my DSG gearbox
Rather than wheel spinning(like it does on normal roads) it seemed to grip more on the sticky tarmac an jerk & jump. I believe this did the damage.
The box worked ok chanching gears automatically but I had to force the very stiff gear shift.
I waited a week and booked into the local dealers, where fortunately after testing the box stuck in Park.
I now have a hire car (courtesey of VW) and am awaiting a newgear box...feeling very fortunate :lipsrsealed:

That is lucky Ian
Have the dealer/VW confirmed that they will repair the gearbox or is it still being investigated?

One has been ordered so i'm assuming they're replacing it.
-
Good. All the bits are crossed ;)
-
tbh... dealers will get paid for the work so they will only do as much as required to 'investigate'.
hope you get it back working correctly soon
-
Cleaned up and best of luck.
FYI I had this happen on my GTD following a similar experience - I simply ignored the "stiffness" and it went back to normal after about a week.

Did you have any other previous issues or did it just let go? Good luck with the replacement.

I've been told 2week wait on box
-
Thankfully the box has been replaced, no quibble.
It was siezed initially then eased slightly after a couple of days.
I was told I could be in for quite a wait while the new box arrived but came the next day. Hire car returned and GTI back on the road
I now over-shoot the selector with the very easy/smooth DSG box........lesson learn't. I've since treat my car to a super resin auto glym polish and getting some TLC

Happy days

Out of interest you guys that are having dsg problems, do you use the paddle shift a lot?
My sisters other half who used to work at Audi said most people who drive hard predominately using the paddle shift will run into problems. He reckons their not designed for constant use. One of their customers who only used paddle shift got through two gear boxes in under 30k.

Did something similar happen to yours?
Do you think its it's the extra power and force on the gearbox?
-
where have you been?
-
A few years back, quite a few now I did hear dsg reference from a group of Audi/vw techs as standing for disaster struck gearbox and doesn't select gearsbox

I've driven my Ed30 for 4 years on paddles exclusively, tuned and zero issues with its god given Mech's unit still fitted lol

+1, use the paddles all the time and on my 4th DSG equipped car with no issues to date.

I use my padles once in a blue moon - I'm a stick it in D man as S seems to hold the gears too long for my soot chucker

Interesting there seems to be a alot on here about the DSG. http://www.honestjohn.co.uk/carbycar/volkswagen/golf-vi-2009/?section=bad

Ive re-installed my remap now I have the new gearbox and in sport it reaches 6500 rpms in the red and rev limiter kicks in and drops power
It worked fine before and im sure it shifted up gears arround 6000 rpms
Faulty map? ECU update because of new box and now wrong map? Any ideas guys

Could it be they've uploaded a software update that your previous remap wasn't designed for?
