i was defending the mk3's corner earlier when a fto raced me all the way up to 30mph . was nearly beaten but we won ! anyways back to topic , i noticed my gear stick felt a tad floppy when in gear i can move it back and forwards quite abit . so took a poke in the bonnet and i think i found the contender

the little white bit feels lose in the bonnet and looks like its about to fall apart ? i presume this is what they call broken .
is that my problem guys and if so would that new bit be in the gear shift repair kit and where do you lot reccommend to get the kit from ?
is this the right kit to get for my 1.8 Se ADZ engine 1995

both are the correct parts, both from sellers off ebay I can recommend.
The bottom has the bushes and bits for the gear stick end as well though.

I ordered the bottom kit from them directly away from eBay as was cheaper so ordered and hopefully back on the road soon
You fitted the kit before ?

aye. under bonnet stuff is fine, but the gear stick end is a bit of an ar$e as you have to drop the exhaust.

yo have the mk3 SE?? i had one of those in red didnt think the linkage was weighted on those it really is a peice of piss to change but make sure the plastic part with a ball joint either end is the right one like your old one because when i did mine it was wrong and the shifter wouldnt go into all of the gears

yea 1.8se , done it last week or so , all went together well and stiffened up the changes , was the ball that split making the sloppy change , im not sure about the weighted rod as i thought all mk3's had them anyways .

the ball was more than likely the culprit happened to mine but as for the weighted rod im prettty sure mine didnt have one
