Title: Turning Off Daytime Running Lights - MFD Problem
Post by: MK6-Fan on 31 July 2012, 19:16
Guys, looking for a bit of help please.

In my Golf 'Match'. on the MFD screen I am not able to disable/turn off the daytime running lights that way............is there another way I can do this & is it even possible?

I was able to do it on a 2012 GT that I hired not too long ago.

Thanks

That's good advice thanks, but I would maybe like the option at some point in the future to turn the DRL's on again but the reply on the page you quoted says this is not possible to reverse the action.

I've had mne turned off that way and they do turn back on again

Deactivating the daylight running lights - Page 62 Mk6 manual

Light switch to 0, Move the turn signal and main beam lever both down and to the rear (left-hand turn signal and headlight flash) at the same time and hold it in this position.

Turn the ignition on for 3 seconds and then switch it off again. The daylight running lights function is deactivated and cannot be switched on again.

Raffe, some folk need to be spoon fed obviously

To turn them off.
Do a left hand turn with the indicators and pull back on the stalk to flash the headlamps then turn the ignition on. After a few seconds you should hear a couple of bleeps then they are off.

Do the opposite to turn them off

To turn them on.
Do a right hand turn with the indicators and pull back on the stalk to flash the headlamps then turn the ignition on. After a few seconds you should hear a couple of bleeps then they are on.

And another;

Found this and the previous thread easily by using the 'search' function; there's lots of really useful information out there, and a good chance subjects such as this have been covered before, so worth trying the search facility first.

Also try Google; 'deactivate DRL Golf mk6'. You'll find some links to videos on YouTube.

^Exactly this but make sure the light switch is in the "off" position as it won't work in auto.

You can't disable/enable the DRL's on 2012 Golfs without VCDS.
