Had this weird noise that's been getting worse and worse and worse. Been meaning to get it looked just never got round to it.
Basically it started off under load there would be a creaking/knocking noise from the front of the car, I dismissed it as a wishbone rubber and said I would get it done. It's got worse, much worse and now does it when the car is first started and is on idle, which now says to me that its not a wishbone but a mount? The engine moves a lot when starting, I'm thinking mount, but not sure which one, took it to a few garages near me today and got turned away as it is too low to get on ramps.
Any ideas guys?
Thanks.

check every mount for wear an tear and movement, you'll be able to tell, failing that raise the car abit and go back?

Yeah that's the plan, I'm sure it's a mount..sounds like the gear linkages are knocking against the tunnel bit??
I've got a mate that works in a garage with ramps it can get on he just wasnt working today. Just wanted some advice of what it could be.

to check the front engine mount, just rock the engine forth and back. If its very easy to rock then the front mount has gone. My mates old mk3 gti made me laugh. He had his bonnet opened and says check this beast out, he started it and im telling ya i jumped back as i thought the engine was gonna bounce out lol made me proper laugh

Front mount normally the one

or gearbox one!!
and mainly due to crap mechanics over tightening them!

I had this on my black mk3. Then one day wile driving I had a huge bang sound and everytime I accelerates the engine span back and whacked the fire wall. My front engine mount brakes had broken. No idea how it happened but scares the fcuk out of me.
Snapped clean in half.
