Title: Hybrid turbo
Post by: shaft69 on 31 July 2012, 17:27
Looking into getting hybrid turbo for mine nephew can get me over frankenturbo F4HT which in states getting 250+ whp. That comes with tip to suit 3" maf,  ceramic coated hiflow manifold and 3" maf housing be $1100 posted about £700. Jbs do hybrid £1400 just turbo alone, tsr is £1000 bought outright. Anyone using hybrid from Jbs or tsr or anywhere else?? Have spoke to bill (badger5) he rates frankenturbo very highly.

i contacted him a while ago as was going to order one but not spending anymore on this golf after the bill i had for my engine rebuld + fitting. He also told me that you will need to customise your gear-linkages and coolant hoses as this turbo sits lower than a ko4.

I spoke to bill Monday said go cr frankenturbo relatively same spec as CR's and wanted £480+vat map it. CR was 450+vat to hybrid own turbo. But with Frankenturbo get tip, 3" housing and hiflow exh manifold for approx £700 posted to door, would just need 440cc and map as bill said when asked about them when I spoke to him.

i would never order something from the states at that price as customs would whack a right big fee on it.

There's always ways of getting cheaper import tax, how my nepew does it when i got my smic bill has to have content price in for customs to see. On bill he'll put 2nd hand smic for spares only $50 and email original bill, that way keeps price down. He'll do same with turbo he'll get it $1000 and post is $120 kit i'm getting is linked. Very highly rated in states.
