Title: painting interior trim
Post by: Khare on 31 July 2012, 10:53
I want to spray the interior cream trim in black to match the recovered headlining, should I smooth it down first or just plastic primer then paint?

Depends what finish your after, if you want it smooth looking keep applying thin coats of primer until smooth then paint desired colour.
If you want the grainy texture of trim as it is now a coat of primer then top colour then lacquer.

I think this is what you meant?

No mate just key it up a bit with a sanding pad to etch the surface, wipe down with pre-paint or thinners to get rid of grime/dust.apply primer layer by layer and then top coat and lacquer, use wet and dry between primer and top coats for an ultra smooth finish
