whats the most amount of ponies you could get out of a mk 2 1.8 16valve kjet engine and how would you go about it? Just a mate reckons that you can get more ponies from an eight valve. cheers mark

the 16v will walk the floor with a 8 valve any day of the week in any degree of tune. With the right parts lightened and balanced and the air floor maximised you can squeeze 200bhp from a 16v lump. you might have to go up to 2 litre though. you'll be maxing out about 160-170bhp with the 8 valve lump.
and yes, please don't start a 16v vs 8v arguement. We all know the 16v is far superior.

back on topic... your mate is talking faeces.. when modified to the same degree the 16v still p!sses all over the 8v.
if your mate still thinks otherwise, look at the G60 and G60 Limited, 8v vs 16v, same modifications.. 160bhp against 210bhp as factory standard from VW.

What I really wanted to start was an informative topic about how to go about getting eg 200 bhp out of a 16valve i just happened to mention that my mate reckoned it would be easier and would get more from an 8v i knew he was wrong from the start but that wasnt really the issue. The issue was how many ponies could you get from a 16v because i was wondering about going through the motions or changing engines :laugh:
