Title: r32's - talk to me
Post by: dragongreengolfgti on 30 July 2012, 20:35

Well after one of my mates has bought one of these I can simply say I want one  Although I am not a fan of the MK4 in most other forms I am really starting to like these alot. I'm currently in the market for a newer car now  this is going to sound bad ( don't all shot me) but I have been looking to get a mitsti evo 7/8 for a while now and haven't yet found the one I was after so this has got me thinking. Now this will be a car for fun as I will be keeping the mk3 valver for work duties

Now I like both my vag metal and Japanese metal and I attend both jap shows and vag shows infact i'm a petrol head and love all cars but the fact is i have a desire to own either of these cars and can't make my damn mind up :( i need info on the r32's what to look out for  what can go wrong most of all etc any info welcome as i'd like to view a few soon. I would ask my mate but tbh he dosn't hardly know anything about them yet it's his first golf and i'm the reason he's rolling in one  I am clued up about evo's my brother in law has owned one for 8 years now so i can find out pretty much anything about them.

Insurance, fuel and running costs are not an issue tbh I have also considered these cars seat leon cupra R, Honda s2000, integra type R DC5, porsche boxster s 3.2, Bmw M3 e46 and possibly nissan 350z

Ive owned a evo 7 and 8 and it was a dog where do i start big end bearings, head gasket failure, complete gearbox failure, AYC problems, other sensor problems, miss-firing the list goes on, ive also owned a MK4 R32, yes it suffered a few problems but the repair bill was no way as big as the Mitsubishi

Yeah not to sure i follow with the unreliable answer with the evo in the 8 years my brother in law has had his evo 8 fq 300 all he's had to replace is oil, tyres and brake pads and disks infact its been more reliable than the mk5 golf gt 170 they now have thanks to me   which blow its turbo not so long ago   It even had a problem with a pump under neath which squeeled everytime he started it which fixed itself and has been fine again for over a year now   this is why its a hard decision as i really do love both cars atm

I was looking at a 6 originally but for the same price can get the model or two up so have opted out of that decision now cheers guys your making it even harder for me

anymore info about r32's ?

Ye they sound sweet

Will cost a lot to add more power though. If I'm right in thinking u can only really turbo or supercharge to gain proper power gains. Ye they sound great but adding turbo will cost £££££££  and supercharger £££££ lol

My mate has one, decatted and pops and bangs all the time

Solid solid engines and solid solid cars. So can't go wrong buying one

I would go r32 as I think they look the nuts, evos are okay but not for me, even if I had money to burn.

depends what you want from it, evos have avery plain interior, not really a nice place to be. typical jap build.

but if i just wanted speed id be looking at a skyline, r34s have dropped in price!

sounds good i'm not mega fussed on the standard power after being in my mates its more than enough for a while  they do sound good with a nice exhaust which i can get nice and cheap

most are very plain indeed however i would have the full leather interior like my brother in laws which improves the interior a great deal although the leather was a 2k upgrade and you hardly see it  Also add a double din stereo with sat nav etc and it starts to look very nice in the cabin also

After being to jap fest at santa pod recently r34's were very weak through out the day and were being spanked all day long which i found surprising  the new r35's were getting good results however with average of 10.8 sec quarter mile runs from standard motors isn't bad at all

that's nice mate maybe to many miles for the price although mileage dosn't put me off to much on these engines would rather go for 70-100k mark though

timming chains are common for jumping on r32s... the us market got recalled becuase they would get sued but becuase all we do is moan in the uk and do nothing about it nothing has been done

Yeah typical that's the last thing you want with a car like this  will have to make sure there's no rattles at all when buying then

so you are getting one then

any decisions on colour or is it just what ever is best at time for the money

well i think i'm more swayed towards one at the moment and i feel a evo or something else could happen later on in life. A r32 has everything i really need and the insurance in comparison to my mk3 16v is sod all i can insure both on a dual policy for a sum equal to just an evo. As i will be looking for a mortgage next year my misses seems to think this is the way to go

Colour is strictly the nice blue they do or if they done dragon green would be that  would also consider black.  must haves are will be a 3 door with around 70-100k fsh well cared for as standard as possible to start with would like to spend 5k on one and 1k on either wheels or other mods or outright blow 6k ish on a beauty something like this one.

Yeah most likely   it's not a great issue for me though as will be using the mk3 for commuting which costs £20 a week  r32 might cost alot while giving it the beans but as my mate has found can give fairly decent mpg driving normally and with 2 kids in the back it won't be driven hard untill i'm on my own  can't wait to start looking in a few weeks

If you dont mind the travel to be fair this is one of the Mintest R32's ive seen for a long time, my friend got his VXR from this garge and they only deal in decent cars they mostly sell £12k+ cars so this will be spot on if there selling it and mileage is amazing too :)
