I am bored of my electric green 3 door 1997 p reg 2.0 8v gti, its already got full heated leather interier(which is mint), smoked quad headlights, fk coilovers, seat leon 16" black alloys, twin 80mm stainless exhaust and all the gti arch trim removed. I am an electrical contractor who is in and out of work due to agency wayne kerrs. I have now saved up £1200 to spend on either the car or sell the mk3 and get something else ?. What you you do please help ? :undecided:

Bit obvious but how about an engine upgrade?
-
Find some rare wheels, make them fit with adaptors if needed. Tinker with different colored lights and maybe abc pillar/dash/headliner trim?? There is loads you can do, just got to get your imagination working.
-
V5 engine, don't see many in a mk3, something different.
-
8v Turbo
-
Buy a tidy mk2 shell and stick the Abf in there? might relight the fire so to speak.
-
keep going with the mk3 as is,
save the money - you might need it one day

Change the engine!
-
V5 or 24v lump :smug:
-
Leave as is and save the money for the future
-
Or you could fit a dirty great big fat bodykit and then wish you had saved you money
-
Start kart racing
After being in a real kart your car or any car for that matter will feel like tank with a 1lt diesel engine
-
I would love an engine transplant but to dear(unless theres one of you lot can do it ).
Would i turbo the engine thats in for an 8v turbo ?

Yes but to do it to a high standard is going to cost the same as fitting a 1.8t.

Oh dear...
Although still quite a sensible suggestion considering your in and out of work problem.
You need to think about what it is exactly you are bored of, how it looks, how it goes or the whole car overall?

Spend it on cheap hookers and jaffacakes
Or get some nice wheels like stated(they always hold there value) then get your car to a pro detailer for a full correction package inside and out, this will make your car look like new and you will fall back in love with it.
I wouldnt bother doing anything with your engine but it is maybe worth buying a few bits towards and engine conversion of your choice. Then with the bits sat in the garage looking at you,it may give you a kick up the arse to crack on with it.
I also find if you lkook through readers rides section,it can spur you on lots.
But failing that, revert back to cheap hookers and jaffa cakes every time!

As mentioned above, get a good pro detail...or some nice wheels, personall I'd go for some Chevrolet Sawblades and stretched tyres
-
Keep the cash and if you are after a bit of fun in your mk3 I'd say track days or try driving it with your eyes shut you never know it could be fun
-
Go on holiday somewhere nice, don't waste it on a Mk3..
