Just wondered if anybody had done one of these before and how much in the way of time/cost is it going to be?
Would it be better if I had a garage look at it?
Or just scrap the fcuker and have done with it (not really the preferred option but hey, if needs must, just dont wanna drive anything else eg, ford or vauxhall or any of the french crap on the market)

You're Berkshire are you. Guess I'm not too far away then, I'm in Yateley, just across the Berkshire border. Having said that, all my time is being taken up in work, shows and seeing Hazel and the kids in Wales so I'm not sure when I'm likely to get a chance to have a look :undecided:

If you are still stuck and need a mechanic, try Automotive Solutions over in Sonning 0118 969 9903.
I can personally recommend them.

I recently did my 1.6 driver, easier than you would expect! I'm free next weekend if you want me to give you a hand, I live in Bracknell :) What engine have you got in it?
What were the symptoms before & after the gasket went, and did the engine overheat at any time? The reason I ask is the head may be warped and need skimming before you replace it.
You'll need the head gasket obviously, a rocker cover gasket and a set of new head bolts at least. Might want to get an inlet manifold gasket too as it will probably be easier to remove the head with the inlet off.
