Title: First post, need help big turbo probs
Post by: Golfmk4 on 28 July 2012, 21:36
Hey, my names mike and got a few issues with the car.

To start this is what was done, engine stripped, cylinders rehoned with new rings and forged rods fitted, garrett 28rs, greedy profec b, new head gasket etc.

Ok so started the car for the first time and seemed ok, was a bit smokey but obviously everything is new, after driving for 20 mins I had no smoke so pleased, but also only boosting to 4-5 psi.

This was ok as only running in but now have some issues, I presumed their was a boost leak (now think it was just in limp mode) so first issue was vacuum port on inlet manifold had snapped so tee'd that into fuel press reg line, leaving hole in inlet manifold open

Second issue is, car starts but after about 30 seconds starts smoking quite bad but once I've driven for five mins no smoke at all, then leave the car for an hour, start it and it smokes again.

Also found exhaust manifold slightly blowing and I am using running in oil so unsure if this affects anything.

Basically do people think its a cylinder issue or something else as losing the will with this.

Sorry for the long winded post, any help much appreciated
