Title: ANOTHER mk2 owner
Post by: FrankyGalactus on 25 July 2012, 19:46
Hey, whats up people!
I've been on a few VW forums in my time, But many seem to be dead nowadays.
I am the very proud owner of a black Mk2 GTi more-door.
It's the 3rd mk2 golf I have owned I've loved them since i can remember.
It's defiantly not a minter but we can't all own show cars and I have too many passions to throw my money at.
I have owned this one for just over a year now, Taking my time to restore and mod it as time and money allows.
I've got the bottom off an AGG engine sitting in my garage waiting to get thrown in. Time will tell how long that takes me.
My main reason for signing up here is that i want to go to more meets/shows from now on.
Went to VW action last year, really enjoyed myself. Would be nice to join the convoy and gain some DIY knowledge.
Anyways, heres the car..... more photos comming soon.
Take care people!

Thanks for the welcome, I'll have another go at uploading a pic.
Being the daily driver, it's hard to work on with the chance of bots snapping, de-threading, and seizing etc. I've been through all that before. Don't even get me started on those ingenious caliper bolts. Apart from the previous owners PATHETIC attempt at wiring an alarm system I can honestly say I'm very happy with the beast. Replaced sooo many parts but really for peace of mind more than anything else. It's an 8v Digifant engine which has given me a lot less hassle than my previous 1985 K-jet.

My list of things to do:
Fix leaks in scorpion exhaust system
Give bumpers some TLC
Do something about lack of roof lining
Front suspension top mounts
Sort out the poor attempt at a de-badged rear
Fit a more presentable bootlid (rust)
2.0 AGG bottom
A faster cam (not 100% on which one i'm looking for)
Considering bonnet pins as my bonnet has a habit of "popping" itself.

Here's a few more pics, wish i polished my car more often
