Title: Electric folding mirrors
Post by: Rislar on 25 July 2012, 12:28
Hi guys, anyone know if it's possible to get the folding mirrors to work from the key fob, ive been through the coding but couldn't find anything ??

I was jealous when I seen that my friends Skoda Octavia Elegance model (2009) could do it.  I think you need the Electric Memory Seats, not sure why, I think I looked in the door controllers and couldn't find anything there either.

Thanks fella, seems rather odd really, and the only car I've had without it  :undecided:

The folding mirrors came with the luxury pack.

Luxury pack - Automatic dimming interior rear-view mirror, automatic headlights on with coming/leaving home lighting function, electrically foldable door mirrors, door mirror puddle lights, reverse activated kerb-view adjustment on passenger’s door mirror, front footwell illumination and rain sensor - £225.

Electrically foldable door mirrors, door mirror puddle lights and reverse activated kerb-view adjustment on passenger’s door mirror - £130.

So they will need different mirrors fitted along with a different control module and a loom then code them.

If you Google they have been talked about.

I'm sure this has been asked before and the answer was no they can't, only from the knob in the door.

How much more room do folding mirrors give you? On the Mk5 it was only 12mm each side. Hardly worth it IMO.

Also the dipping passenger mirror is a pain in the arse when you're reversing a trailer.

It's not the room for me it's to stop idiots pulling them off like my old Beemer and RRS, little sh!ts!!

The mirrors only dip when you leave the mirror switch in the L position  if you leave it in the centre or right position it stays where it is,

Have to turn the knob to fold em in before you get out I'm afraid

I take it the folding mirrors are an optional extra, ive got electric heated mirrors and they tilt when I reverse but didnt know whether they are folding? I dont think they are but who knows? I keep finding new things about the car

Same as mine, but mine don't fold either

You can tell if they are folding, it will be on your mirror switch, top right position heated element. Top left folding mirror, bottom right n left mirror adjust,
Will be a folding mirror symbol top left on the toggle if you have them

Yeah, theres another direction on the adjuster switch for the mirrors, next to the heater side!

I have the coding from the Skoda for the doors and its different to mine for the Golf p.s. I have the Folding mirrors, it means it goes in the garage with ease. I am sure it saves more than 12mm too.

How much more room do folding mirrors give you? On the Mk5 it was only 12mm each side.

While I was searching today someone said that the mk5 doesn't fold as much as the mk6.

Mine are just electric then not folding. Ill deal with pushing them in, the other half has to push hers in and she is pretty good at it. lol.

Thats true, i had the lux pack on my mk5 because it included auto dimming mirror and some other stuff, the folding mirrors were ALMOST pointless!

+1, agree on the mk5 folding mirrors being pretty pointless. Had them on my mk5 but hardly ever used them. The mirrors on the mk6 fold in much further. I specced them on my car to make it easier to park in my rather small garage without risking clipping one of the mirrors on the way in or out of the garage. After a year of ownership, no damage to my mirrors yet.

The "kit" was from a breaker's yard and taken from a car that was being broken for spares.   The Ebay seller is called: d33lu786.  He doesn't seem to have any other kits in at the moment, but when I bought mine he was also had a 5 door kit on ebay as well (mine's a 3 door).

Took less than 2 hours - worst bit was pulling the door cards off, they took some shifting!  The rest was easy and the kit was a plug and play fitting - no coding was required and I've got folding, puddle lights and left side mirror dipping in reverse.  My R was an in stock cancelled order and lux pack was not specified.

Not an option on G6 for us here, so nada in a breakers yard. Local rocs all have them, wonder if they would work on a 4 door G6?
