Title: New alloys weired out come??
Post by: Povey on 25 July 2012, 10:11
Iv recently lowered my car on coilovers and the alloys iv had on 18" bbs LM reps 8.5j with 5mm spacers both sat flush with the arch both sides which was nice.

Now iv swapped wheels to some 18" RS6 alloys 8j still with 5mm spacers here's the problem one side sits flush with the arch and the other is tucked slightly?!?! Both wheels are the same offset and same specs what's happened? How do I correct this? Iv heard its a common problem

Maybe one of the alloys is a different offset  :undecided:

if your bbs lm's sat flush and the rs6's dont then id say its a problem with your wheels

Was going to say quite oftern the rear beam doesent sit compleatly central. theres a thread about it on ukmkivs. and quite oftern lowering makes it more obvious. However i dont see how changing alloys would change how the rear beam is sat

surely the only thing it can be is either your off set is slightly different on your Rs6's or the tyres are different sizes

Iv just been out and checked all the alloys and all exactually the same, all the tyres the same brand and size? I think it might be a case of not noticed before to be honest, and iv read a thread about it looking more obvious after lowering, bud does any one know how to sort it?

Loosen the 8 axle brackets beat it what ever way needed..... tighten! A ramp would help alot to be fair
