Seeing as it has started to get hot outside again the thought of me hand polishing, sealing and waxing has already got me in a sweat!
I am looking to buy the Meguiars G220 V2 this week but was wondering on which pads to get.
I will be using DJ microprime (very light swirl marks on the car), DJ acrylic spritz sealant and waxing using Bilt Hamber Hydra Wax.
Do not want to use the Meg pads as they seem over prices compared to the other makes. also will the soft buff 2.0 backing plate work with them all and would i be better of with the 4" over the 5.5"?

Lake country ccs pads are good quality.

sorry i forgot to say that i was looking at CG Hex-logic

for the DJ micro prime
and

for the wax.
the sealant is a spray so will get away with a MF.
Will look into Lake Country to confuse me even more. lol

I use the CG pads, i bought a range of them from orange to black and they seem decent tbh, the 4" are classed as spot pads and are for smaller areas such as bumpers on the golf, as the golf has mainly large flat-ish panels i'd go for the 5.5" ones mainly, perhaps green, white and black depending on how bad the swirling is, if it's quite bad then you may want to think about a polish to add to the micro prime which is (i think) more of a pre wax cleanser?
Oh and you should be fine with the red pad for wax, although i would consider whether it's worth paying for the megs v2? Some cheaper alternatives around for what you need it for.

Well the swirl marks are fairly faint as the car is candy white they dont really show up unless under close inspection with a bright light. also as it will be the first time u polish the car dont want to take too much out if it. Most likely will be gettin DJ Lime at a later date but need a bit of practice first.
Could you give me some advise on the alternatives as i have just gone on reviews and recommendations on the v2.

Someone has recently asked about DA's, i've posted a link to mine in the below thread (DAS6 PRO by cleanyourcar.co.uk) which is pretty much the main contender for the V2 in that price bracket, i spent ages trying to decide between the two, the main difference apart from the price is that the V2 has "cruise control" which basically means that when you put pressure on the machine, rather than it slowing down there is a torque sensor which speeds it up to compensate, some say it's the sound of the machine slowing down which gives a good indication that your using sufficient pressure to work the polish.

This is a good review of both by DaveKG.

Thanks for the links.
I might wait till waxstock and see what there is around there. With the sun out I have noticed more light scratches on the car so might actually consider a heavier polish and diff pads.
Will give it a wax this weekend an be patient and have a look at the experts in August.
Thanks for all the info. ESP the detailing world link. Has swayed me even more towards the g220
Also with regards the micro prime would it be better to just go for the lime prime with the Hex medium light polishing pad to get rid of the swirls or would the micro prime be ok with this?

Personally i'd give the Micro Prime a try first to see how you get on, like you say it's new car so shouldn't be that bad, if that doesn't work move on to something stronger.

Thanks for the advice Jimble.
Just doing my research now so i am clued up before waxstock. I think that the G220 comes with a 6" backing plate so i am now having a look at 5" for the CG pads.
these should be ok with the 5.5" CG?

No mate, you'll need a 5" backing plate for the 5.5" pads and a 3.5" for 4" spot pads.

Ye sorry meant 5" plate for the CG 5.5"pad
Found the meguire plates. Gonna have a look at other makes of plates as well.
Need waxstock to come quickly as gettin impassiant. Tempted to buy it now off Chris. Lol

I prefer flat pads over the hexlogic and lake country. Still good pads though! Backing plates are a killer price!
Sometimes use a Sonus 5.5" polishing pad with lime prime or Britemax Black and the swirls are gone.
Also prefer the 4" pads on the DA just cuts better and ideal for mk2's as every panel has some odd angle to it.

Too many choices!

Why pay £144 for a DAS6 when you can pay £100 for tbe same machine with cleanyourcar.co.uk written on it? You've got too much money!
http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/polishing-machines/das-6-pro-dual-action-polisher/das-6-pro-dual-action-polisher/prod_673.html
Just put DAS6GROUPBUY in the box at checkout and they'll take £15 off that price plus free postage.

Had a play with Scholl Concepts compounds and pads today. I am very impressed with Scholl at the moment.

Was waiting for this joke!
Would i need a couple of the same pads as i have read its a good idea to change them after each panel.
