Title: ED35 1/4 mile times?
Post by: mjp on 24 July 2012, 14:17
What times have you guys run with your ED35 GTi? I recently ran a 12.5 with my car. The car has intake, full exhaust, WMI and APR software. The time was achieved with a full interior.

That sounds quite quick to me but I am no expert, what is the standard time 14? Never tried it or any of my other GTI's as always being used on the road and at present being our only car plus its bog standard  :embarassed:

That is a mentally fast time for an ED35 with a full interior, regardless of anything else. Are you sure it isn't a 13.5?

I see you have WMI, so I'd suspect that is a big help. What tyres did you have on for the run?

Where did you do it and could you post up a slip or link for us doubters.

I ran the time at a local track which is about 5000ft above sea level. I ran with 17inch hoosier tyres upfront and my 19inch BBS at the rear.

here is the slip

Great pic that. Hoosiers really do produce great times.

What power are you putting down ?

182kph is 112.8 mph which would probably mean you are over 300whp and by the launch reaction delay I'd guess you are DSG too. Am I right?

Good time I was going for the low 13s but culdnt get the launch right and had to much spin, maybebif I was running 888s

I ran 12.6 in my tuned R and I bet I have more hp then yourself, something isn't right with that slip I'm afraid and before you bash my driving I just use launch control on my dsg and it physically won't go faster, I Carnt understand how a car with your mods and front wheel drive would beat my time down strip

Thanks, my car makes around 340whp and it is DSG. My 60ft times are bad. I have seen guys run 1.8 60ft with Hoosiers.

The R is much heavier than a fwd car and could be the reason. You need to know how to launch and drive a fwd car.

Same engine so might not be that different?

4wd will get going quicker but weight advantage will enable the lighter car to catch up.

So, you must also have an updated hpfp too and be stage 2+, yeah?

I have stage 2+ with the upgraded hpfp. Going to upgrade the cooler soon as I still have the stock cooler. Going to fit a THS cooler.

Launch Control in my K04 is worthless with my Contis. I ran it @ Inters for 1 run and ran a 13.8. I was spinning in 1st and 2nd. Didnt even go the whole distance @ WOT. Not to mention the strip surface sucked.  I only did 1 run due to the accident but If I rev to 3k and manually shift I do alot better.
The WMI lets you run APRs 100 octane file.
What brand of WMI do you have? I know the owner of Devils Own and he is a jackhole. Its gonna be my next mod but not his. Where do you live??

Wait you have a GTI with an upgraded HPFP?? Why??? I know the Rs need them but they are a totally different engine despite what the engine cover says. Are you K04 or Stage 3?  Even with Satge 3 you dont need it untill you hit 3+.
I am K04 and have no issues without the upgraded HPFP.

On my tiny phone screen it looks like he has an edition 35 rather than a tsi.

In std tune yes (270 vs 235 ps) plus the R has bigger calipers up front and the suspension is slighty lower too I think.

I also had a 13.847 and 5.44 0 60 time at gti this year, I also ran box in man mode wiv no launch as my launch times where 14.1 and 14.5. I'm stage 2 full tb milltek 100 cell cat, no pump no intake. If it was on a better surface I'm sure I'd be 13 flat

I am using a coolingmist stg2 progressive kit and have the 91 oct APR file on my car. APR does not offer map switching for the edition 35. I get wheelspin in 1st and start getting traction in 2nd gear.
