Title: France tour inc pics
Post by: Edi35 on 24 July 2012, 11:52
Just returned from a two week tour of France (2100 miles in total) which was great in the ED35, a relaxed cruiser on the autoroutes and a fantastic cross country/fun overtaking machine.

Here are a few pics:

Men of the moment Bradley and Cav with Team Sky

One amazing bridge the Millau viaduct (tallest in the world)

Plus a few of the ED35 which just looked amazing in the Provence sunshine and evening light which really shows the Carbon Grey at its best!

Cracking pic from Le Tour.
History being made there...I am jealous! If I lived closer I'd have popped over to see Brad win it.

I love the Millau viaduct too...I never made it down to see it last time I was in France.

Car looks good too

Thanks Mike, wigit and Ess Three for the comments. Saw the Tour de France last year too and loved it. I drove past Reims on my way home but was going for the ferry in Calais but I know people who have visited the old circuit and raved about it. Did Avignon to home in the Uk 715 miles and took 10.5 hours of driving time only (ferry and stops added another 2.5 hours). Had a really easy run back and got out of the car with no aches or tiredness, it was fantastic!

I did a tour of Belgium, Germany, Switerland and France last year in MK6 which was great, went through Baben Baden (have stayed there before too) and its lovely. Also drove though the Black Forest; wonderful and some great roads!

This year I was over in Bergerac and traveled cross country to Millau and Avignon, fantastic roads with litterally 1000's of corners and hairpins and was a really great drive one of the best I have ever done

Wow, that's an average of about 68mph, what sort of mpg figures did you return?

Averaged 30 on the way back but overall it was 31.5. Not bad as we had an extra 70kg of wine onboard for the return trip

Trip computer gave 68 as the average it was as high as 72 in France but slowed down a bit in England. I kept the car between 80-85 (in France) on the speedo which was between 77-82 on the prat nav so the speedo appears to be fairly accurate and much better than my previous MK5 and MK6 which were about 9-10% out. Went passed quite a few speed cameras and one speed trap with no bother

Indeed one of the best alloys I have ever seen...

How do you experience the 19 inch drive....do you have 18 inch experience....do you have the dynamic drive switch.

Sorry to ask a lot but I am in the process of choosing/ordering the alloys..

He strikes me as enjoying that extra inch kinda guy!

If you follow the river north from Milau you end up in the Gorges du Tarn, fabulous place, spent a week flowing with the river in a canoe getting very very drunk on cheap plonk!

Sadly time was precious on the way home, odd as there were so many Engineers amongst us.  (British Designed that bridge ya know!! something the French don't mention too often)

Did Avignon to home in the Uk 715 miles and took 10.5 hours of driving time only (ferry and stops added another 2.5 hours).

That's good going, the eurostar does it in about 6 1/2 I think.

Are you sure the dutch did not build that bridge and the english or americans just put their names on it
