How many miles to a full tank of petrol will a......
Golf GTI 8v
Golf GTI 16v
do?
-
depends how you drive
-
depends how you drive
And the type of roads, motorway driving opposed to town driving will make a massive difference.
To answer your question...how long is a piece of string?
-
I drive 130 miles from Norfolk to London and back every week for work.
Mixture of A/B and motorways, rarely above 80mph
Using Roadtrip App on iphone I am getting average of 37mpg in GTI 16v
City driving kills it though!
-
Aslong as your getting better than me - all motorway driving to inters and back

In my 8v I got just over 400 miles, mostly motorway, 100miles on a roads and a bit on back roads
-
Hmmm, so the 8v's are not that good, I thought they would be very good. As for type of journey.......50 miles A roads 20 miles town per day. A Honda Accord can get 289 miles to £64 doing this and they are 210bhp and capable of 150mph.....Saying that an E36 BMW 328i 6 cylinder which gives 194bhp as standard can do 400 miles to £78, this is A roads and town driving.
-
I recently tried this for myself and it was 317 miles till i was in the Red bit.
This was with moterway driving and main roads, 2.0 8V Gti

My old 328 would get 44mpg on a 65mph run.. tried and tested. And will leave a vr for dust when required
-
They use same amount of fuel.
16v just burns better because it turns it into vapour better than the 8v due to the extra valve.
-
My 8v was crap on fuel, 8v has to be worked harder hence why they are not brill on fuel.

My 328i was good on petrol and was definitely faster than my VR6. Although my 328i was a handful in the wet.....Some enjoy the back end stepping out, I didn't mind if I was in a large car park but on open busy roads the boxers had a few marks left in them

I can get up to about 48mpg according to the trip if I really really try to be smooth, but that's averaging about 40mph!!!
-
i've done 400 miles on a full tank in my 16v, that was on motorway though
-
Just got under 39 mpg on my 8v with a car FULL to bursting with camping gear, roof rack full with about 50kg of stuff too, 2 adults & 2 kids. Motorway & a roads.
-
200 miles to £30
-
full tank in my old 2.0 8v and I would get 320 miles
-
