Title: BMW 1 series M Sport Colour Choice
Post by: MAW73 on 24 July 2012, 09:53
Quick poll........ I've ordered last week in Apline White (probably because my gti is candy white). I'm now thinking I should have gone for the Estoril blue?

I've not got a build date for the car as yet so it probably won't matter if I change at this stage.

Thanks all

I think the blue just edges it; also it may not be as common a colour

I've noticed the most popular colour of new cars is white, they're everywhere.
So for me it would be blue.
It's more interesting and it would stand out from the rest of the sheep

Did you find the new 1 series had improved legroom/boot space as promised ?
I'm trying to convince the Mrs to go with either the new A3 or 1 series but she is lusting after a Qashqai as she thinks its bigger and a better "family" car.

Must admit the white does it for me, I spent ages looking for a white MK4 1.6 but in the end had to settle for silver. Always love a white car

Estoril is a superb colour, without a doubt the colour I would (will) be choosing.

Change it before it's too late!!

The F20 1 Series is 8.5cm longer than the previous generation; BMW claims a 2.1cm improvement in rear legroom ( not that I googled this or anything ).

I test drove a 116d M Sport and it was fantastic to drive. I've brought the 125 i M Sport with a good few options including the M Brakes as the car below.

I would definitely go for it in blue, it just looks so much better than the white, but still a nice car whatever colour you end up with.

IMO white is just a fad, that will look dated in a few years time. where as likes of estoril blue, dark metallic's will hold their value & not look as dated

1 series M sport is a nice motor for sure :)

Thanks guys you've just cost me an additional £515 to change the colour to 'Estoril Blue'

Email sent to dealer so can't change my mind again now. Even though as soon as I sent it I doubted my choice again (I'm worse than an old women I know).

Blue is way better than the white, there are way too many white cars around and it just screams "The cheap bastid driving me wouldn't pay out an extra few bob for a decent metallic colour"

The white looks really good on the saloon but the hatch looks better in that blue

Good colour choice, but gotta say the new 1 series just doesn't do it for me. Its just getting bigger and bigger, next out will be the BMW 0.5................... :undecided:

I've literally just sold this very car for my daughter, completely mint, and unmarked paintwork...
Advertised on Autotrader, the phone was on fire all week! first caller came all the way from Hampshire to Leicester the very next day, and paid the full asking price in cash... Alpine White is BMW's racing colour, and is of course the correct colour for a Motorsport car, so its more than just White! White is more than just a passin fad!, its been with us now for around the last 6 years, and is showing no signs of people getting fed up with it, quite simply, expensive cars look stunning in White
The Blue will mark, and chip and look tired in a couple of years, but Hey Ho...

The white is very nice. However, I have just sold my gti which was candy white therefore I fancied a change more than anything.

The only thing that worries me is whether being blue and metallic that it will be more susceptible to scratching. Hopefully if its looked after like my gti it will be ok (+ don't let the Mrs near it). I shall post a thread on the detailing section to get advice on the best products to use.

The golf paintwork after 3 years was pretty much perfect. It sold in 20mins on Autotrader!

Now it looks like I have to wait for 4 months for delivery for the bmw due to prodcution issues...... That's german engineering for you!

It won't be any harder to scratch than the white you'll just see more if it does, but if you look after it which you will it'll be fine.

^^ +1

The challenge with blue is that it will have a light grey/white primer so will show the chips and scratches more  but the colour will be worth it

White/ black or gray 5 door, or blue 3 door!

i think any colour you go for will be nice and once sat behind the wheel you will not worry about the colour blue is a pain to keep tidy though any little scratch seems a thousand times worse than what it is as i have found out

red would be my ideal choice of colour personally once detailed a red car just looks amazing

Blue looks quality, I have seen a few Mark 1 White M Sports though which look very nice indeed.  Used to have a 118d in a slightly darker metallic blue, one of the most fun cars to drive ever!
