Hiya
http://www.carmagazine.co.uk/Drives/Search-Results/First-drives/Volkswagen-Golf-GTi-Mk5-2004-2009/
In the above article it mentions the HPFP is an area of weakness and recommends changing them between 40-60k as a precaution.
Mine is just coming upto 38k and due for a service in September, as the part is only £28 is seems like a no brainer, has any done it and what was tha labour costs?
Thanks
Simon

Does that not refer to the cam shaft follower?? :undecided:
Quote:
The high-pressure fuel pump is driven off a camshaft, and the follower is prone to early wear, especially on cars with long-life servicing. If it fails, it can cause serious and expensive top-end damage. Jabbasport recommends taking a look at the condition of the follower on any car with 40-60,000 miles, and usually changes them every 20k as a precaution. It's worthwhile, and costs only £28
£28, for a HPFP is a bit cheap lol!!

Does that only apply to the Golf GTI?

Thanks for the clarification, so its the follower that needs replacing not the pump itself?
Has anyone else had this done and what was the labour charge.
