Title: Other VAG
Post by: Seanl on 23 July 2012, 17:48
Mods feel free to stick it somewhere else if required,

Bloke who ran into the back of me has just admitted liability (6 weeks later!!), so I've been looking at a cheap run around for a bit til I get another Raddo VR6. I've just looked at a Fabia 1.4 MPI, with 38k for £1500 from the dealer. Was a PX, and they're putting a years MOT on it, Valeting it, 6 Months Warranty, it has 5 months Tax, FSSH, and almost a full tank of fuel too! It's extremely clean, but was wondering if there is anything I should be aware of before laying down the cash tomorrow?

Cheers!

Will you get your money back at the end? If your planning of selling that is

Other than that sounds good.

Well its seriously low milage, and is in near mint condition. There's very little within that price range in the country, and nothing with such low miles. I reckon theres very little depreciation left for something in its current state. (The missus will be driving it too though! )
Its a pretty basic model, although does have ice cold A/C, but even so I think its a pretty good deal, especially from the dealership. I just don't know much about them, so wondering if there was anything specific I need to look out for.

It is one of the slowest cars on the planet but as a cheap runaround it will be ok.

Yeah cheers Wayne. Its pretty much for the missus tbh, so slow is good as it brings her insurance down. After a bit of research HGs can be a problem apparently when milage creaps up. Good for a fair while yet though in that tespect, and absolutely no evidence of any problems there atm. Just waiting for my compo now for the VR!

Well deposit has been paid. Cheque came through from the insurance today too.
Problem is, the Fabia isn't gonna be ready til Monday. I'm in Fareham for the week on Monday, and have a stag do in Bristol on Saturday. Gotta hand the hire car back by next Wednesday though, so I'm in a bit of a predicament................. :undecided:

Cheers Danny, filled me with confidence!

Its pretty much done now unfortunately, but its for the missus mostly anyway so I'm not too fussed if she gets nowhere in a hurry. I'm just gonna have to have easy right foot so as not to wreck it then.
