^^^ This

Buy cheap, buy twice.

Don't forget to replace top mounts and bushes whilst its all apart otherwise the suspension will be coming off for a 2nd time costing you more money unless you're doing it yourself.  However, I doubt you want to be stripping the suspension off twice!!

ok what about these?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-Golf-MK4-1-8-GTi-Coilover-Suspension-Kit-SMVW8003-/330681874812?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item4cfe2cf97c (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-Golf-MK4-1-8-GTi-Coilover-Suspension-Kit-SMVW8003-/330681874812?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item4cfe2cf97c)

i've heard FK and other brands being thrown about the place...is there somewhere on here where someone has put together a shopping list for a MK4 GTi 1.8t detailing best parts to buy etc?

i know what needs to be done to mine but a list of items such as ARB's, Struts, pipes etc would be quite handy

I just paid £375 for a set from Awesome.

Never had coilovers before, and have to say i'm impressed with the AP's

Was really worried about bouncing down the road and having my back smashed to a pulp by bumps. But its not bad at all.

And I suppose ARBs, struts and braces make the car what it is supposed to be when taking corners as well? Anyway looks like the coilovers are on hold, started the engine after work and my exhaust now sounds like a harly which isn't good. Mate has let me use an old merchant exhaust that's been retro fitted until I get my miltek next month

Will keep your opinions in mind though for future use  :nerd:
