What brand lower arm polybushes is favourite on here?
Just about to buy some
-
Which ones are you planning on doing?
I think super pro are generally better/easier to install as they are the most expensive
-
im using super pro and they pretty good
-
polybush are also a very good make.

Powerflex, the name escaped me! I also have this in my dogbone mount
-
Cheers guys, Im only after doing the front lower arms,
My current bushes are now gone, the wheel moves back and forward.
do the all come in 2 parts to save having them pressed or are they 1 whole bush?
-
Has anyone tried Flo-flex?
I used to have them in my old Escort RS and they seemed ok
-
Is it possible to get away with just changing the rear bush in the lower arms?
I cant really afford to buy both bushes. I can either buy just the rear or another pattern set of arms,

Yeah, but it seems a false economy really. Even if you were to replace the front bushes with OEM bushes instead of polybushes it'll save doing the job twice
-
I now have 2 sets, lol
I bought just the rear powerflex bushes, Then found a good deal on a full set of superpro.
Ill fit the superpros and return the powerflex. Ill post pics of it being done
-
all done, ill post pics when i get home on saturday ss im on my phone now. powerflex bushes look a better design over the superpro, i fitted the superpro`s though. old bushes come out very easy using a blowtorch and hammer. rear wishbone bushes went in by me standing on them and a bit of a jump. front bushes where harder as they kept slipping. i used a long bolt and 2 washers in the end and wound them in.
-
Can you feel a big improvement? It's something i've always considered doing.
-
i can, however my bushes were very worn an ripped in places. dare i say you would do just aswell fitting Oem parts but perhaps TT lower arm rear bushes. aslong as your using genuine parts and not pattern. The Oem bushes seem to last 100k so they are upto the job. the superpro have 3year warrenty however id expect them to last alot longer than that.

I don't use any bushes on the front of my car except for steering rack (super pro)

I have used super pro everywhere before and it was a good improvement over standard - reduced the 'play'
-
That looks awsome

you can clearly see how ruined my bushes are, Lots of noise going over bumps and
breaking!

wishbone on the bench waiting for the old bushes to be cut out,
I used a blow torch to burn the bush out the knock the metal liner out of the rear, The front just fell out.

new bushes in and arms back on the car

Rear bush went in easy, I placed the arm on the floor and placed the bush on the hole and stood on it,
It just popped in.
The front was a pain. I tried a G clamp but it kept slipping so I used an old head bolt
and two large washers to wind the bush in.
Overall its made a huge difference. The car feels firmer over bumps and seems to hold the road better.
You can feel more road vibration when traveling on a bad surface other wise its not noticable.
You may notice more virbation on lowered cars. These were fitted to my boring 2.0 gti which
is on standard suspension
Heres a pic of the powerflex bushes I also bought

I wish I had a pic of both makes side by side, Notice the larger diameter on one side. The superpro doesnt have this
The powerflex seem better made of a better material.
I used the superpro due to cost, Ive returned the powerflex bushes.
The crush tube on the superpro is also alot thicker than the powerflex.
