Need some help guys I put some new coilovers and adjustable droplinks on the golf the new drop links have allowed me to go lower than I was previously the ajusting rings are now level with the tyre wall and there's only about 3-4mm clearance if the car is driven enthusiastically in to a corner it rubs on the adjuster rings and the bottom of the spring need to space it out 5mm
just wondering if the cheap ones off eBay would be ok to use as the centre of the hub that the wheel locates to is about 10mm so if I put 5mm spacers there would be about 5mm left to fit the wheel and make sure it's centred ok I'd have to get some longer wheel bolts too
Any help ou usefull info would be great

I thought the wheel was meant to sit 100% vertical all the time? No matter if you are cornering or not?
Mine has a gap of about 4-5mm too and never have this problem.

I'm sure there's going to be all kinds of forces put through the wheels with well over 1ton of car pushing on them
Could be the size and off set of my wheels causing this there's defiantly signs of rubbing on the inner tyre wall it's not bad but over time could ruin my tyres and mr MOT guy not like the look of it

The adjuster rings are rubbing in your tyres? You're still driving it???
Surely when you go over bumps/potholes the adjuster rings would then whack the wheel?
Sounds like a good setup you've got :)
Each coilover varies slightly on dimension and design, I had fk highsports with the same setup as my current (but now with Apex rdx coils) it rubbed on the Apex coils even with 8mm spacers (19x8.5j, 215/35 tyres), but wound it up a tad so the adjusters were out of the way and has been fine since. The inner lip o the rim was rubbing by about 2mm on the adjuster. Sounded awful!
I you're catching your tyre then you'd need something more like a 15mm spacer! Can you get any pics up? I pretty much thought the same as slix in that the dimensions/spacings don't change (unless you've got knackered bushes or something's not done up correctly!)

Mine rubbed when I first lowered mine on coilovers, a 5mm spacer from halfords sorted it but gave me a lot of steering wheel wobble. In the end I binned the 5mm spacers and fitted some 15mm hubcentric's instead.

When you go over pot holes ect the adjuster rings stop where they are they don't go up and down with the shock the shock tube slides in and out the shock and the car goes up and down the rings are screwd on to the shock body and the shock body is bolted to the lower hub so I can't see how the shock body would be going up and down and causing it to rub ? it only rubs when driven hard ish
Tbh it sounds a lot worse than it is there's only very light marks on the tyre and it's no way near as bad now they have bedded in since it's been back on the road it's had every single bush changed track rod ends anti roll bar bushes the lot it was off the road all winter had new wheels/coilovers break discs pads

Yea when you go over humps or potholes its gonna make no difference what so, the shocker is solid to the hub so the rings wont move up and down. A for any other movement, I would say just slight tyre stretch.

Thanks for a moment I was thinking I didn't know what I was talking about the only way I can see the ajuster rings hitting the wheel on up and down movements is to put the coilovers on upside down :undecided:

+ if wheels where 100% vertical at all thes there would be no need for strut braces or anti roll bars and any other gizmo designed to help the handling of cars

They are for stopping the wheels lifting off the floor and the car rolling over, not the wheel flexing/bending left and right. :tongue:
