Just out of interest... what timing are you trying to do? because in theory you don't need to time up the 8v engine ignition timing,  when you do the timing belt, you need to line up the crank with the intermediate shaft, and set the camshaft,  you take the dizzy cap off, and ensure the rotor arm points to the little notch, then that it, as long as its all set to the base marks, the rest of the ignition timing is automatic.  You cant time these up with a gun, it will just keep trying to correct its self.

Basically, I had the car and it wasn't running right, so I had a look at the engine timing, and it looked to be a tooth out, so I timed it up to what I thought was correct, then had a look at the ignition timing and it was out giving me a 5000rpm limiter, so I adjusted that, but atill have the limiter, just want someone to have a look for me to ensure the engine timing is correct, and if not to put it right lol then I can check the ignition timing again,

Thanks
