Post by: andyxpress on 04 October 2003, 13:05
Hi
I have a 1990 gti 16v for a couple of days now, all was going well until this morning, car started OK but  the idle was vey irratic going from 2000 rpm to 3000 rpm and back again, not sure if its gets better when warm as i immediatly drove back in to the garage to ask you guys the question. Does anyone know what might be causing this??
thnx for the help

Check around the throttle body and inlet manifold for air leaks. Take the idle stabilisation valve off and check how far open it is.

On the right hand side of the inlet manifold. If i remember rightly follow the rail for ht leads.
