i have a slight problem with my lights and was wondering if someone can help me.
What happens is when i have my lights on and go to indicate then the rear lights flash with the indicators. Now i know this is bad earth on the rear light clusters but i have taken them both off, cleaned the points and connectors back to bear metal and put them back on and it still happens.
I have also noticed that if i sit in the car with all lights on and indicating, the handbrake light on the dashboard flashes slightly in time with the light. Also when i turn the ignition on sometimes the Rev counter flicks up and down a couple of times and then settles. The only other thing is the relay clicks fast sometimes or slowly or just clicks and sticks other times. My battery is quite flat as i have to jumpstart it at the moment but i dont think this should affect the problem.
i really need someones help or i am going to burn it
please help cheers

Tried changing the relay?
is any bulb blown out?
does it happen when batt is fully charged?

Sounds to me like you have some major earth issues ,check the usual suspects like the earth from the battery to the body and then onto the engine. Check especially the body earth is good and clean, strip it off to check it properly, clean up the cable end and the body and put some grease on the faces when you refit it to stop any further problems. Let us know how it goes.

i must have something wrong then because i changed the earth lead at the battery and it now goes straight from the battery to the gearbox. Is it meant to go from the battery then hook onto the body and then finally to the gearbox? If so thats whats wrong. :embarassed:
cheers ryan

goes from the batt, then to a bolt near the batt then to the gearbox if i remember correctly

Thank you very much thats solved the problem as i have not reconnected it to the back of the battery tray :embarassed: just straight from the battery to the gearbox.
thank you very much you have saved me from burning it

Just to check there is not another fault, did the problems start after you changed the earth cable?.

As far as i know it started then. I checked it all out before when i bought the car and there was no problem then so really it can be the only thing that is causing it. i will def check that when i get back from hols.
cheers again hopefully it is that and i wont burn the car.
