ok, im only currently running a puny ko3. but heatsoak is a huge problem. i could cook a fry up on my inlet after driving to the shops to pick up the snags on a sunday morning.
im not made of money, but iv a few pennies hidden away from the girlfriend.
i cant afford a THS intercooler. I dont think you can even buy them.
i was looking at the toyosports FMIC, but i feel the pipework sitting in the grille looks terrible, and a little, urm, Burberry. and terrible in the bay over the TIP. after buying the kit, replacing the blue oses with black, paint for the piping, its a good £250.
i then stumbled across water meth kits. this would purely be ran as a cooler, and not to advance timing. i have heard that inlet manifolds almost run cold.
what are the thoughts guys? or am i reading it all wrong

THS can be bought mate for just under £500 alot of cash but everyone claims its worth it.
You can pick up second hand ones but very RARE. ( I was lucky and it wasnt even advertised) lol
You have a choice to buy the sidemount from turborevs which is bigger than standard but need to vent the wheel arch behind it to decrease the back pressure etc.
My inlet gets hot on my 195bhp k03 but il be honest I have NEVER suffered with heat soak even when giving it the beans.
Even when driving around it get warm but still I never suffer with heat soak.
If your not chasing power then buy a forge recirculating valve, tip, nice exhuast and stage 1 remap with R-tech and youl love it.
Then youl want k03s, actuator, injectors and intercooler to take it further

FMIC will give more gains than WMI.
You need a remap to properly benefit from it.

I'm Sorry chaps. I didn't reveal my full spec.
It's running a stage 1 map from chris (topher) at Midland Vw. Running afilthe 008 and pipercross filter. Separate pcv and boost systems. Catch can.
It ran 181hp and 218lbft. Eventually. The actuator spring needed more tension and for some reason it's running a smaller 2.0 n/a throttle body.
The main problem was heat soak. Every run gave less power. I know this has a much greater effect strapped to a rolling road. But it shows what it can do.
I will be going k03s at a later date. But I'd like to get this done first.

Arhhh makes sence man.
Im not sure if mine was the same on the rollers so I cant comment in that case lol
Iv still got the the 1.8t throttle body for you mate let me know when you want it
