to me that looks like the Flywheel is pretty much TDC and...

i kno this isnt the best pic but from straight on it looks in time to! but when turning over by hand it feels like it jams! i can push past it but could that be the pistons pushings the valves? i have No1 piston spark plug out
Thanks in advance

Where are you located? If you're not too far I'll come time it up for you? Check timing mark on cam pulley is lined up with the mark on the head, check the timing marks on the crank pulley and auxiliary pulley are in line with each other and whip the distributor cap off and check the rotor arm is lined up with the timing mark on the distributor body

Didn't see your post mate! Got stuck in to the car, Very sorry! Would of been great if you could of, but I did manage it in the end! I think..... Seems to run ok, I think I have the dizzy time wrong still though! As I still have a 5k limiter as I think I'm timing it up to the wrong mark! Its also using a sh!t load more fuel now!:( could that be the ignition timing?

I did mine not so long ago. I got tdc buy putting screw driver down number 1. Then set the cam marking o.t inline with the o.t on head.
leave it at tdc then take dizzy cap off and line up the marking with the arm, it has 13mm nut at the bottom. Loosen that and then turn the body.
job done.

i think i have the engine timing right.... i think lol, i used the OT on the head to line up with the arrow on the cam, then when i was timming the dizzy up i think i timed it to the wrong mark, haave you got a pic of where i need to time it to at all?
thanks

no! Not the arrow. On the cam pulley near the teeth you will have O.T and between O.T there is a line that you use to line up with O.T on the head. Your timing must be well out
-
in fact the O.T is on the teeth. Inspect your pulley and find first.

ahaaao god   thats not good at all lol!! looks like i know what i am doing saturday lol re-timming my engine correctly lol! i will find OT on the pulley first lol!

good lad. Took me a little while to get my head round it and now I am a expert

Did you use a strobe?
Best way to get the timing right, espacially when adjusting the dizzy.
-
You need to screw the green bung out the gearbox as that will reveal a point on the gearbox casing which lines up with the mark on the flywheel as its the most accurate way of gaining tdc and if the flywheel aint lined up correctly nothing else will, make sure both OT marks line up on tha cam shaft and the mark on the dizzy lines up dead centre with the rotor arm. This is how I did it anyway to loose the 5000rpm limit and clear the fault code.
-
Thanks for that mate, I appreciate it, how does the green thing unscrew? Just chisel it round or? And ill make sure I like up the OT markings not the arrows lol!
-
Yeah chisel it out but try not to break bits off that may drop inside...it will more then likey break anyway but new ones can be had from the dealers for about £4.
