got the car back few weeks back from bodyshop, paintwork looks good but i noticed after washing it there is white marks (polish residue) mainly on the scuttle panel and the satin plastic bits around the mirrors(mk4), tried cleaning it but as soon as it drys they come back, whats best to get rid of or use to hide them?

You could use Carpro eraser to remove the marks and Carpro Perl to revive the finish on the plastics

As per mr butlers post eraser and perl are great products, eraser is a wipedown product and will remove polish residue easily and perl will make your tyres and plastics look great again.
