Im ordering a few parts from the US. Mainly a set of 82mm JE pistons.
HOwever, i tempted to buy more with their cheaper price of parts over there than here.
Im looking at the ARP headstud kits and ARP main studs.
First off, is a AGU block 10mm or 11mm headbolts?
Is it really worth the extra few quid (60$) to go for the studs over normal bolts?
Anyone any ideas?

From my Ford days it was said that the stud kit had a better pulling force on the head as the standard bolts stretch over time
-
Yeah, studs pull down better as only lateral tightening instead of a twist motion. Can get: 82mm JE pistons, ARP main stud kit, ARP head studs for £580 posted.

In short no  ur prob no where near needing studs

n00b question alert :
What is the big deal about replacing/uprating head studs/bolts/nuts? How many head studs and bolts are there holding the head on? Surely they do the job well enough? You would crazy amounts of pressure to force them off no? :undecided:

Wont studs help line the head more aswell?

What is wrong with a bolt to line up the head? I'm sure most manufacturers would make a straight bolt/stud wouldn't they?

With studs already in the block it would be a case of plonk the head on and bolt it up
Using head bolts you have to line the head up perfect (there is some give in the HG), some heads have locators in them but my vr never so was a ball ache to line up, especially when it was just me holding the head and lining it up

IF you put down the HG then try to drop the head onto it without no studs its a ballache... maybe my previous point went abit south
