Hi All,
I Just put my Golf through its MOT and its failed on the rear centre seatbelt, it is completely stuck and wont release at all. It is a 99 AGU with recaro seats and I cant see how you open them up to get to the seatbelt mech to fix it with out ripping them apart. If anyone has had a similar problem or knows any information on how to fix this then I would be grateful if you could share it here.
Thanks in advance.

Unbolt both ends from the car and then try and seperate, if you cant seperate not sure if you 'need' a centre belt at all :undecided:

Do this and then perhaps replace with a new seat belt

new seat belt means new seat. to quickly get it through mot then remove the seat belt buckle.
to release the seat belt the seat needs to be in the car at a certain angle, have you tried to remove the seat recently? tilt it forward and try to pull the belt, keep trying this with the seat at different heights and it will eventually give, when it does pull it all the way out, lock the seat into its fixed upright positiona nd then let the seat belt retract

Thanks for your advice guys
After doing a bit of reading on other forums it seems like this is a common problem when you put the seats down and the mechanism somehow triggers it then locks and you cant pull the seat belt out when the seat is moved back into the upright position.
In the end I fixed it by putting the seat down which gave me just enough slack to unclip the belt for the bottom of the seat I then put the seat back into its upright position and let it pull back into the mech, it then released so I pulled it all the way out and reattached it it to the bottom of the seat. It seems fine now so hopefully it will stay that way. Thought I would let you all know in case anybody else has the same problem.
