Right, i'm guessing this has been asked loads, but i'm going to ask anyway.  In the last couple of weeks the oil buzzer & light have come on a few of times. First time was shortly after going round a very sharp right hand bend very fast, I turned the engine off straight away checked oil levels etc. All looked ok fired her up light & buzzer off.  So I put this down to the oil all being thrown to the side of the sump causing it to miss the pickup.  Then after a real beating down some country lanes I was driving through my village at 20mph & the oil light & buzzer came on for a cople of seconds & went off again before I had chance to stop.   Then today as I came off a traffic island fastish it came on agian, turned the engine off & back on, no buzzer.  Then it came on once more just for a couple of seconds & went off again. The car is full of oil, no leaks.  Just a bit worried it might go pop on the 20 mile drive home :undecided: What do you lot reckon?
Oh & can I buy a tool for checking oil pressure??
-
I used to have a problem like this on my MK1 and that was down to poor oil pressure!
However not to alarm you I have heard of peeps having problems with the oil pressure switch giving a false indication. Might be worth checking that out first.
-
Yeah that was my first thought as it has started happening very quickly, just don't want to run the risk of doing some long term damage
-
I threw in some of that Wynns stuff for "OLD" engines and it helped loads with the pressure.
It's not a real cure but it helps!
Ended up selling it though for £200
If it still happens after that then it could be the switch! :undecided:

Right just been out to the car park, am I right in thinking the oil pressure switch is on the oil cooler housing? There's two there, one is pressure & one is oil temp? Well the front one is pissing oil out
-
At least you've found the problem.
Sounds like it could be an easy thing to fix.
Did you have the bottom end worked on when you got the head work done? :undecided:
-
No, it was just the head, got em to check the bores while the head was off, & they said the bores are in perfect nick.

Looking at the , err Haynes :embarassed: it looks like there's an oil seal on the switch. Could be that if you're lucky.

hi guys sorry to but in but im putting some guages in the car and just wanted to make sure that i get those two switches the right way around.
The front one is pressure and  the rear is temperature
Cheers max

they are both pressure sensors on the oil fiter housing
the oil temp is on the back of the head with a green wire going to it
