Title: Golf Mk2 GTi 16v Whistling Sound
Post by: golfgtimk28vman on 17 July 2012, 15:28
Hi, my car has developed a whistling sound (almost like a turbo) at part throttle. It then disappears with more or less throttle. Any ideas?

Definitely a whistling?...  Can you place roughly where it's coming from, which side? close to you etc.

Is it in every gear? I got a whining sound come from a mk1 when the engine was under load, turned out to be the gearbox.

Loose alternator pulley (or other) block pulley?

Have a check with the bonnet up and adjust the throttle speed from engine side.

Check its not coming through the radio, could be the earth strap on the bonnet hinge broken, and creating interference.
