dear all
it seems all the major guides loop the catch can back to the hockey puck on the tip.
on the abf 16v i routed the crank breather to a lucazade bottle and blocked the airbox. worked a treat and collected loads of crap.
i know that the 1.8t's are a little more delicate.
i have already taken out the block pcv valve, and blocked up the inlet breather on the inlet manifold. running the block breather direct to the metal hard pipe that goes around the block. so now the pcv system is completely isolated from the intake system?
so why now breath the block breather and rocker breather back to the tip? as this now re introduces the inlet system?
is not all crankcase ventilation positive? therefore not needing the tip to suck it through?
am i correct in my thinking?

I think it can work either way. Only problem is you're not allowed to vent to atmosphere anymore due to emissions rulings
-
Will this fail an mot if obvious? The only thing is I can't afford a baffled tank. So the fumes will definitely pass through
-
I have an ebay jobby so no baffle inside my catch can.
I also have mine joined mine from catch can to tip but deleted the hockey puck valve as it was fooked anyways.
And mine have passed a mot with this fitted.

righto chaps. i have done ecactly what i did to my abf. the pikey method. free bits lying around.
dont worry. if this proves to work well, and catch some nasties, i will buy a can.....

i blocked off the pvc valve intake to the tip with a plastic wine cork, then sealed with a mikalor clamp. i then used 19mm oil proof hose into a robinsons fruit and barley bottle
poked a few slits in the top of the bottle to let it breath. and you can really hear it chugging away.
along with last nights charcoal cannister delete, the car now breathes lovely clean air
ps. what is that thing i have removed that attaches to the bulkhead? i just have it resting against the airbox

i dont understand anything your on about  but i thought one of the ideas behind the catch can simplification was to eliminate possible boost leaks how the ell you doing that by slicing holes into a bottle im quite tired so you will have to elaborate more
-
as i have blocked off the hose on the intake manifold, the boost and pcv systems are now separate. i hope
-
excuse my ignorance it does say :lipsrsealed:

guys, i have had an even pikeyer idea. i have no idea how you spell that!
i have just gutted my recently removed charcoal canister. very simple. full of crap!
from the block hard pipe, im going to run a 19mm hose round the back of the block, where the canister lines used to be.
all the way in to where the sensor used to be on the canister. i can even put back the petrol tank breather. this may even look oem!
it even has a nipple on the bottom i can put a hose on the end, and some kind of cap to drain it. AMAZBALLS!

Nice idea I like your thinking
Just be careful where you're venting though. Don't forget all those nasty fumes are now filling you engine bay and could also find there way into the passenger compartment. Not good if that happens!
Your better off running a hose from you catch tank down one of the break lines and venting it some where down the back of the car.

carciogenic
